From The Author...
"Picture this. You are in the Doctor's office. Two small children, yelling that they would rather be
eating French Fries, are sick. One is crying, one is clutching your thigh, claiming all she needs
is the fries, and she won’t HAVE a fever anymore.
The calm, cool, collected Doctor walks in, with the chart, a smile, and a thousand questions.
What time did the fever start? How long has she had the sore throat? Did his start then as well?
Any stomach changes? What did you give each of them? What time? Wait which one threw it
up? Have either of them ever had these symptoms before? Are they allergic to this drug?
When did you notice the weight loss? Didn’t she have her tonsils out, or was that your son? I
saw them last in …..hummm when was that? Is she due for her shot? Did he get his? Wasn’t
he allergic to that shot?
Your world spins around you, and suddenly you remember their health journals. You casually,
grab them from your bag, dropping used tissue on the floor. (It’s ok, the Doctor didn’t notice,
because one of your little Angels threw up on his shoe). You lay one journal for each child on
the counter, and say, “Let's just look it up, SHALL we?” With a smile, you realize, that you have
all the information right where it should be. You are organized! YOU have important, necessary
information right at your fingertips. (As well as used tissue).
You get the right medications, and hit the car…running through the drive through, to get yourself
the fries….because the kids are finally asleep.
