“The Courage Book”   A Gift Book For The Children
By: Erin Balzrette
Courage knows no shape; knows no size,
Only the warmth of the heart it occupies.

Tiny little elfin treasures bring forth a strength,
Not known in measures.

The tear may fall, the voice may yell
But bravery shines through… as all can tell.

Keep this book.  Fill it with words of praise.
In case as they grow their bravery fades.

Remind them of the faith once shown
By all whom this child has ever known.

Each gift, each word, each mark of love,
Shines strongly to help them rise above.

Turn the pages, read them through
Laugh and love, and keep hope close to you.

“The Courage Book” is very special because it involves showing the children how much we
care about their feelings, and showing them how special they are to us. It will help form a
connection between patient and Doctor, and allow for communication possibilities that
otherwise may not happened.  Keeping a child’s spirit, and self-confidence strong is a vital
part of their health care.  Giving these books out to new patients as a welcoming gift, or
during the holiday season is a wonderful way to show how much they are appreciated. It
only takes a moment to record a message, to show how much you care about your child,
and yet it will last a lifetime in their memory.
